Cheetham Respect Forum on Pakistan
Millions voted for the two main opposition parties - and against Musharraf - in the hope that a new government would address the enormous inequalities that exist between rich and poor in Pakistan. But despite their democratic principles, both the PPP (Pakistan People's Party) and the PML (Pakistan Muslim League) remain committed to neo-liberal economic policies and Bush's ‘War on Terror.’
What are the prospects that the new government in Pakistan will start to address the issues of poverty, inequality and insecurity?
With speakers recently returned from Pakistan - come and join in the discussion.
