PRESS RELEASE: GREATER MANCHESTER RESPECT They will now seek to inflame racism and violence against minorities across Britain. Griffin's election will be a disaster for ethnic minorities across the North West The Respect Party made a tactical agreement and campaigned with the Green Party for Peter Cranie to present a progressive, anti racist and pro-trade union candidate against Griffin's poison. This decision has been vindicated and will be proved correct in the days ahead as Griffin's Nazi reality becomes apparent. Most people voting for the BNP did so because they are desperate for change and see no hope from mainstream politicians who line their own pockets. Their choice of party is wrong but their desire for real change is not. The Respect Party is determined to meet the challenge of providing an alternative to the lies of the BNP. We stand for genuine rather than phony community activism and for opposition to the welfare cuts, job losses, wage cuts and housing crisis. The path from this crisis will be trodden by those that understand that we must stick together, not turn on each other using false ideas of race when the problems are those of class. The bankers get away with ruining the world economy while working class people pay the price in homes, jobs, pensions and bills. Griffin is the son of a Tory councilor and a Cambridge graduate. His class is clear. The Respect Party will provide an anti racist, anti-war, socialist alternative to Gordon Brown's failed government and to the fascist BNP at the General Election and local elections. We will stand local candidates across the North West against the Labour ministers at the heart of the expenses scandal. We urge everyone who wants peace, social justice and equality to help us present an alternative to the mainstream parties. We urge all anti racist and anti fascist organizations to join with us and to work together in mobilizing the widest possible movement to remove Griffin and bring the message of class not race to those that have supported his party in this election.
